Description

QuickBar is a 3rd party There client add-on. It replaces your default There Funfinder application and instead provides quick link buttons for using items in your inventory and for performing other actions.

I made this 3d party addon to provide an quick and easier method for accessing ones inventory because the default menus are horrendous.

Quickbar provides some default functionality, but its usefulness comes from its ability to be customized. I strongly suggest reading the instructions before using it to take full advantage of its features to make your threian life much much easier.

Installation

This application replaces the default There funfinder application. ( Pictured below )

original funfinder

Ensure that your client is not running. Otherwise you will have to fully restart the There client after install.

The application is provided via an installer located at the bottom of this page.

Simply run the installer and ensure your installation points to your correct installation folder.

If you've installed There into a folder other than the default above you will want to install it there.
(It will try to detect this)

Uninstallation
A backup of the funfinder application is provided if you want to restore it and uninstall quickbar.
Simply delete the funfinder.swf and rename funfinder.original.swf back to funfinder.swf and restart the client. The defualt location is C:\program files\there\thereclient\resources\funfinder\

Operation

Obviously Start the there client. 'doh

If your funfinder is not visible and most likely it is not. You can find it in the following location.
On your There toolbar click There - Customize - Toolbars and Tips - Funfinder.

You should now see Quickbar above your toolbar. It will not have any custom buttons yet. To do this we must configure our items.

Some features are immediately available to use without any configuration and will be explained in this section.

Configuration is done through your menu heirarchy in the organizer. This requires that you move items to a specific location on your menu. If moving items is not something you want to do then you will not be able to use the custom features.

After configuring your quickbar by creating folders and moving items as described in the next section, you custom items will be available.

Before we get to configuring custom items, a quick explanation of the interface and default functions is in order.

About buttons,
Clicking Iconic buttons will perform an items its primary function ( usually takeout, drop, hold, or the default actions listed below. ).

Some buttons have option buttons ( blue buttons and orange buttons,Blue=optionA Orange=optionB.). Clicking these will perform secondary functions ( usually hop-on, drive, or use ). Orange Buttons typically put items away.More on buttons below.

When clicking buttons Wait for your requested action to complete ( status bar will display DONE or FAILED and the button will color RED or GREEN and then fade out. ). Be sure not to release Action Mode ( CTRL ) if you are in action mode until you get an indication.

It may take awhile to get use to holding the action bar up when in action mode, but it is well worth it in my opinion.

User buttons will load onto levels, you can navigate these levels in one of 2 ways.
One is to naturally use the up and down arrows to move to the prev and next levels of buttons.
Alternatively you can click on the Quick level jump button located at the left side of Quickbar, it also serves as a level indicator for the current level.
This will load a special level containing buttons allowing quick access to all levels.

TIP: Clicking the Quick level jump button twice will switch you to the default level (level 0).

About the clock,
Clicking on the clock will cycle through timezones. LOCAL/PST/PDT/UTC(GMT), in that order. PDT is PST w/DST.

Using Buttons

Multi-Funtion buttons can contain up to 3 buttons in one.

The primary button is the large one containing the icon.
On The right side of the button there may be one or two Option buttons to perform additional functions for that item.

OptionA is a blue button and may be on top of an optionB button. OptionB is an orange button and may be below a optionA button. Items with only one option will only have one of the two as pictured above.

The Primary button is typically the usage button, take-out, drop, etc.
OptionA [BLUE], typically performs secondary options to the Primary item such as Drive, Hop On, Use. OptionB [ORANGE], typically retreives or cancels the primary item.

Pressing it an additional time will jump to the default level (level_0) for quick switching to zoom controls etc.

The Level switcher provides quick jump buttons to all levels. These include the Program Launcher, Settings, and User levels. User Levels are limited to 15 buttons because of space limitations.

Chat Color

chatcolor chatcolorselector

The chat color selector lets you easily change your chat color and has swatches of the actual colors.
Simply click a color to change your chat bubble color, status will show There colorname on hover.

Note: All typed text changes color togather, you cannot style mutiple colors. 'sad

Limitations / warnings

QuickBar uses your menu to operate.
Unfortunatly it can only operate when your menu is visible on the screen.
This means that if you are using action mode, you must keep the menu on screen ( by holding the control key ) until any actions complete.
This includes but is not limited to initial loading and button actions.

Despite this restriction, and its getting use to, you will most likely still experience faster takeout times and hop on functions , not to mention not having to navigate menus anymore. Indication of operations notify you when a command is complete and it is safe to release Control.

Misc Issues

Some There objects and long named developer items change names when they are located in another sector. So if you drop a object and then try to retrieve it later when your in another sector , it will fail.
Eg. beetle hoverbug changes to blue beetle hoverbug.
Workaround: reload QB or use the old fashioned method of retrieving.

Configuration

Throughout these instructions, there are links to an organizer simulator that shows you exactly how your folders are supposed to be configured. These links are in the form of icons like this [Show Me]

Figure 1

Ok you will need to start off by opening your organizer.
NOTE. Folder names are case sensitive and usually lowercase.

You must create a folder in your My Things menu called "quickbar".
See figure 1. or show me in the simulator -> Show Me

It doesnt matter where on the menu it appears as long as its a direct subfolder of My Things.

Next you want to create subfolders inside the folder you just created using the naming convention in the chart below.
You want to add items you need quick access to to these folders.
DO NOT ADD EVERY ITEM YOU OWN it will cause performance issues when loading, not to mention defeating the purpose of having quick access to items because you will have too many buttons..
You will want to be sure you put the correct items in the correct folders or the buttons may not work correctly.

Show Me Example: quickbar/buggy/.

Next you will want to place a buggy inside this folder. Place either a single buggy or as many as you want under this folder.

You will have a button for each one.
Note: Mutiples of items with the same exact name will not show up more than once. See special note in advanced configuration for these instances.

Continue with the rest of your items, Following the naming convention in the chart.
When this is done or if you just want to test it with one ( you can reload the toolbar later ).

Click the R icon in QuickBar. The status area should indicate that it is loading. When it says "Loaded" you should see your button/s and they should be usable.

Ensure that you do not release the action bar until it has loaded as explained above.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU ONLY ADD A SINGLE ITEM YOUR FIRST TIME AS A TEST. THIS WILL HELP YOU AVOID CONFUSION, ENSURE YOU HAVENT MADE A MISTAKE AND ENSURE EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY, ALSO IT CAN HELP ME HELP YOU IF THERE IS A PROBLEM.

If you feel confident, you can continue to add items followed by pressing the load button to see your changes either one at a time or when your done adding them all. Its always safer to reload every few changes to make sure you havent done anything wrong. (Don't forget to save your config when done, so you dont have to load it next time you log in)

Advanced Configuration

Advanced Configuration is a slightly more difficult than just creating folders and dropping items in them.

Advanced config buttons are created using named folder configs instead of placing items.

Be careful to observe case, all advanced configurations are case sensitive and are typically kept lower case for ease of use.

Detailed Information for creating Advanced Configuration Buttons

Favorites Buttons

Create a folder with name "quickbar favorites" in your favorites root.
Simply stick favorites you want to appear on QB in this folder.
Show Me

Teleport Buttons

Syntax: /quickbar/teleport/[name] - icon[house,paz,lot,sign] - [doid]

Create buttons for teleporting to objects using their doid number

You can only teleport to some objects namely signs, pazs, zones, and houses.

The format is as follows
"teleport / name - icon[house,paz,lot,sign] - doid"

To create a teleport button.
Create a sub folder inside quickbar named "teleport".
Inside it create a folder named "name - icon - doid#"

[Name] is any name you want to identify it with , it will be shown in the status bar when hovering its button.

[Icon] is any one of the available icons. They are "house", "paz", "lot", "sign" and are pictured above.

[doid#] is the objects doid identifier number. More info on doids can be found below.

Show Me Examples

Folder "teleport" subfolder "My Paz - paz - 888888888"
Folder "teleport" subfolder "My House - house - 888888888"

Edit Buttons

Syntax: /quickbar/edit type[book,sign,scroll]/ name - icon - [doid,poid]

Create buttons for quick editing your docs or signs.
This is great for authors or users that update signs or docs daily.

The format is as follows
"edit type[book,sign,scroll] / name - icon - doid/poid"

Name is any name you want to identify it with , it will be shown in the status bar when hovering its button.

Currently the icon parameter is ignored but it must be present.

You can find the objects doid or poid by opening the edit page and right clicking properties , it will be in the page url string

Create a sub folder inside quickbar named like so.
For signs - create a folder named "edit sign" inside it create a folder named "name - sign - doid#"
For Docs - create a folder named "edit doc" inside it create a folder named "name - book - poid#"
For Scrolls - create a folder named "edit scroll" in it create a folder named "name - scroll - poid#"

Examples:

Show Me Folder "edit sign" subfolder "My Sign - sign - 888888888"
Show Me Folder "edit doc" subfolder "My book - book - 888888888"
Show Me Folder "edit scroll" subfolder "My scroll - scroll - 888888888"

Classifications for edit category:

Paz Addons

Syntax: /quickbar/addon - gearcategory

You can add paz addon items to your quickbar, its great for stacking etc.
Create a sub folder inside quickbar with the following format.
"addon - category name"

Category name is the category you would nomarally find it listed under in your "This Place / Gear" menu and stick a single paz item in it. You only need to put one , even if you own many.

Lets add a structure item like a "Glow Ring"

Create a folder named "addon - structures" and stick one of your Glow Rings in side it.

When you reload Quickbar you will be able to use the new button to drop all your glow rings in your paz.

Notes for using addons:
Clicking primary(icon) = drops one. Click again to drop another.
Clicking optionA(blue) = Takes one out.Click primary to drop it,Orange to put away.
Clicking optionB(orange) = Pick up/Put away . Click twice to put away ( you must be near its action tag )

Show Me Examples

Breaks - Forcing new Levels
( Basic Grouping )

Level Breaks force the level to change whether its full or not. In settings, just drag a BREAK into your quickbar item list.

Space - Visual Seperators
( Basic Sub Grouping )

You can add a seperator between items to create groupings for quick visual grouping. In Settings, drag a SPERATOR into your item list.

Multiples of Non-Unique Items
( Quickbar only sees 1 item if item names aren't unique )

Syntax: /quickbar/objecttype - n/ [item]

Say you want 2 soccer balls or buggys with the same name on you Quickbar.

If you just stick them both in their folder , Quickbar will only let you use one.
Theres debug mode cant handle duplicate objects or folder names in their xml debug interface.
This means that you cannot normally have 2 of the same items on your toolbar.

However if you so desire to have duplicate items you can do so by adding additional folders for those items.

Add a number on to the folder name to make it unique and stick a single duplicate in it. Repeat as necessary for all duplicates.

For example if you want to have 3 items that all have the same name, say soccer balls you would do the following.

Instead of sticking all 3 in the ball folder ( quickbar will only allow you to use one the rest will fail remember)

Show Me Examples

Create folders for each ball like so
"ball" / stick 1 soccer ball in here
"ball - 2" / stick 1 soccer ball in here
"ball - 3" / stick 1 soccer ball here

The same goes for any category, Remember you only need to do this if the items have the exact same name.

Say

Add a say text button by dragging it into your list and editing the text popup.

Actions

You can add special action buttons to quickbar or customize the action panel. Actions are various predefined commands that perform various functions, including activating features located on the menu systems.

To add actions just drag them from the action list to your item list.
The following are the possible codes you can use and their function.
